BRIAN K. SZKOLNICKI A Gentleman, and a Gentle Man It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Szkolnicki, our husband, father and friend, who died suddenly, but peaceably in Regina on August 19, 2002, at age 75 while travelling back from a holiday in Edmonton. Brian was born in Winnipeg, and lived in Winnipeg all his life. He worked for Atlas Alloys Ltd. for 40 years in various capacities, retiring in 1987. He was an active member and officer of the Canadian Polish Athletic Club for many years, with a commitment to its ideals of volunteer service throughout his lifetime. He was also an avid golfer and bowler. He had a deep religious faith which served as a source of his strength. He was a member of the choir of St. Marys Polish National Catholic Church, and was noted for his powerful and melodic singing voice. Brian was modest, helpful and friendly to all, touching many lives around him. He had a deep love of animals and nature as well as a gentle manner, wry humour and love of life. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mildred; son Mark and daughter-in-law Anne Stevens of Edmonton; son Warren and daughter-in-law Caroline Ashley of Ottawa; son Robert of Winnipeg; and sister-in-law Helen Bartosh of Winnipeg. Brian will be sorely missed by his wife and family. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice, in Brians memory. No prayer service will be held. A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 24 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Marys Polish National Catholic Church, 361 Burrows Ave. with Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. with Very Rev. Msgr. Wesley Cwieka officiating. Interment will occur at St. Marys Polish Catholic Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the people of Regina with special thanks to the staff of the Emergency Unit and Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Regina General Hospital in Saskatchewan.
